Introducing Muzeen & Blythe’s OECD Testing Carrier Discs:
the foundational testing platform to eliminate viruses and germs.
It all started with the SARS outbreak in 2002, when the world faced its first 21st century pandemic. Muzeen & Blythe was contacted by the Head of Microbiology, within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and the Government of Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory, in Winnipeg. Their request was to create a product that could be used to test killing the SARS virus on different surfaces.
We created these test carrier discs from stainless steel to replicate a universal, commercial-grade work surface and we’ve been making them ever since.
As the proud originator of these test carrier discs, we’re pleased to share that our discs are:
Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) approved;
used by our partner, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to assess bacteria, fungal and viral growth on the surface;
a household name amongst hospitals, universities, cleaning and pesticide companies, and research laboratories – across the globe – that use these discs to test products and their effectiveness when it comes to cleaning and sterilizing potentially hazardous pathogens.
With over 20 years’ experience producing these discs, we’ve perfected the process* and have full capacity to customize an order – based on size, shape, material requirements and finish – based on your needs.
*Our test carrier discs are fabricated, inspected and cleaned to specific requirements.
*Our unique fabrication processes produce a uniformly round circumference with no cutting tabs or slots that may affect desired test results.
*Our 1cm test carriers are packaged in a clear polyethylene plastic shipping / storage tube, sized to fit 150/tube with no excess room for moving or causing damage while shipping/handling. Each shipping tube is labelled with the following information:
· Muzeen & Blythe’s contact information
· Our specific part number for the order (i.e. 801, 803)
· The Muzeen & Blythe job number
· Date of shipment
· Individual batch number, which is traceable to the original material’s mill certification (Material Test Report)
· Quality level markers that accurately indicate quantity of your order

1cm non-magnetic disc made of ASI Type 304 Stainless Steel - 0.8mm thick (22 gauge).
150 grit unidirectional brushed finish on one side.
European Specification X5CrNi18-10 Number 1.4301
Japanese Specification JIS 4303 SUS 304
Burrs are manually removed.
Discs are passivated by ASTM A967 in citric acid solution.

No. 4 finish on top side (between 120 and 180 grit)
